A Word From Our President

You might have thought we were giving something valuable away. People kept coming through the door. There was excitement in the room. We had to find more chairs and I was worried we wouldn’t have enough food. This was the Jewish Federation’s Annual Meeting in June celebrating 60 years of the Jewish Federation in Sacramento. Held at the Einstein Center, it began with a delicious Israeli brunch. Those attending included representatives of all of the congregations and agencies in the Sacramento region. more

In mid-May I saw a few Chinese students gathered at a street corner. They were holding signs with slogans reading "please help earthquake victims." They were handing out home-made flyers, hoping to collect funds for their friends, relatives, fellow homeland citizens who were trapped under buildings and near cracking dams. They did so quietly and respectfully. Most people ignored them, some stopped to talk, one or two asked a question--very few give them anything.

The Final Farewell

The Israeli nation is plunged into deep grief and sorrow at the news of the death of Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, may their memory be blessed. The two abducted soldiers who were handed back to Israel this morning in the framework of the prisoner exchange agreement with Hezbollah, returned in coffins. It was not what their families, or as every Israeli and Jew across the world, had hoped and prayed for. Full Article

We are proud to offer Israeli folk dancing in the Sacramento Capitol Region. Dance classes are open to anyone who wants to have fun and exercise! We offer Classic and New Dances for group, line and partners. All are welcome, beginer and intermediate.
